START 2012 with a refreshed and revitalised beauty regime. Here, Bobbi Brown shares her top tips on updating your makeup bag and reveals her essentials for flawless skin.

Downsizing your make-up bag for the new season:

“Start by dumping all of your makeup onto a table or the floor and arrange the makeup into the following categories: lips, cheeks, eyes, skin. This way you’ll be able to see what you have too much of and what you’ll need to complete your beauty kit. First, toss out anything that’s broken or missing a cap. Then, check for quality. All products have an expiration date so it’s important to get rid of anything that’s outdated. The easiest way to tell if a product is still good is by it smell. If it has a strange or chemical odor, throw it out.”

Hydrate winter-worn skin:

“Hydrate from the inside out. Try to drink eight to ten glasses of water a day to help flush out toxins and keep skin clear. To make it easier, carry a reusable water bottle, which is more environmentally friendly than going using several plastic water bottles. Conceal tired party eyes:

“Under eye darkness can bring your whole look down. For an instant lift, use a pink- or peach-toned Corrector (£17) to brighten and neutralize discoloration under the eyes. Next, layer a yellow-toned Creamy Concealer (£17) one shade lighter than your skin tone directly over the Corrector.”

The secret to flawless looking skin:

“With the right foundation you can achieve the look of amazing, gorgeous skin. Most women have yellow undertones in their skin so a yellow-toned foundation will blend perfectly and look like it belongs. Test the color on the side of your face and also on your forehead (it should disappear). Once the color is correct, choose a formula that gives you the coverage and finish you’re after. Whether it’s sheer, matte or glowing, the choice is yours. For dry winter skin, try NEW Extra Repair Foundation SPF25 (£36).”
